Route cut offs are in place for the safety of all riders and the support teams out on the route. They are a particular time in which you must get to a point on the map. If you do not reach the the cut off point before the allocated time, you may not be able to carry on the ride.
Cut Off Point for L'Etape London
• We have a cut off for LONG riders at 12:30 in Thaxted, any riders arriving in Thaxted after 12:30 will be sent down the Medium Route. Participants must maintain a minimum average speed of 16kph to avoid the cut off, if you are worried about the cut off point then please ensure you keep feed station stops to a short time.
• The cut off is in place due to time restrictions at the velodrome and we want to make sure everyone gets the chance to have a proper finish.
Whilst we cannot kidnap you from the roads, if you do fall behind time on your route and refuse to take the cut off, we will ask you to sign a disclaimer saying that you are riding outside the responsibility of the event meaning you will no longer have route support (stewards, motorcycle marshals, medics, signage, feed stations). We strongly advise taking the advice of the support team on the route who work on these types of events week in week out.
